Positions and power relationships
This role-play is taken from the “Supporting participatory dynamics” training module. It was developed by several members of the Former pour transformer collective in order to enable organizations wishing to do so to set up a training course specifically dedicated to building the capacities of people in charge of accompanying participative dynamics.
The objective of the role-play suggested in this activity guide, named « Power position and dynamic », is to make the participants think over the position they must develop to accompany the participatory dynamics, and over the power dynamics within the collective dynamics.
It contains character sheets, a role-play guide, and advice for the debriefing. The example takes place in Senegal, but you’re free to create your own ! It takes between 45 minutes and an hour, depending on the number and profiles of the participants.
